El Grec Festival : 01/07/2017-31/07/2017
Known to be a lively city, Barcelona is especially active during the summer. Here is another event which is worth coming for: Barcelona’s Grec Festival.
Every year, the cultural areas of Barcelona offer international and cultural shows, exhibitions, and events throughout the month of July.
It obtained its name from the open air amphitheater “el Teatre Grec” and for over forty years, the city celebrates this period by letting theaters and auditoriums come together from the first to the thirty first of July 2017, to share their cultural passions in order for you to discover new cultures and traditions. Music, dance, circus and theater are all part of the program during the festival. You will see that the festival offers activities for all tastes, and preferences.
The festival originally started in 1929 during the Universal Exhibition to put forward the art works of Catalan artists. Each year actors, dancers, musicians – artists of all sorts and kinds are invited to participate in the festival. Internationally well-known names such as: Joe Cocker, Celia Cruz, Maria Creuza, Caetano Veloso, UB40, Chuck Berry, Elvis Costello, B. B. King, Bob Dylan, Pina Bausch, la Merce Cunningham Dance Company, la Martha Graham Dance Company, Jan Fabre, Peter Brook, Sasha Waltz, Michel Piccoli, Krystian Lupa, Robert Lepage, Matthias Langhoff, la compañía Cheek by Jowl, Ko Murobushi, Romeo Castelucci, Ryoji Okeda, Virgilio Sieni, Pippo Delbono and many more have been present in the past at the Greg Festival of Barcelona.
This year´s exhibition will include artists (theater, music and dance combined) such as: El preu, Bodas de sangre, Brundibár, Jacopo Godani, Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, The Great Tamer (El gran domador), E.V.A., El Tigre de Yuzu., Susana Baca, Israel Galván, Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagés, Horacio Avilano. Cuarteto de Tango, Joana Serrat and many more. Therefore, if you enjoy art in general, you will obtain a handful of works of art from all over the globe. The prices start approximately around 20€ and vary according to how many tickets you need and to how popular the show you are going to is.
